Patrick De Ritis

Patrick de Ritis approached music at the age of eight with piano lessons, but it was at the age of thirteen that he started his surprising career as a bassoonist. He studied both instruments for some years, until he decided to devote himself entirely to the bassoon at the age of seventeen.

His musical study curriculum was developed at:

– Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, with Marco Costantini,
– Mozarteum in Salzburg, with Milan Turkovic, Klaus Thurneman and under the direction of, among others, Michael Dittrich and Franco Ferrara.

Career:

1978 – Abruzzese Symphonic Orchestra, Italy – He won the competition as a bassoon soloist and maintained the position until 1982.
1978 – He became a teacher at Lecce Conservatory, Italy. 1982 – Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Italy – he won the competition as a bassoon soloist.
1985 – Rundfunk A. Scarlatti, Naples, Italy – he won the competition as a bassoon soloist and maintained the position until 1987.
1987 – Rome Opera Theatre, Italy – he won the competition as a bassoon soloist and maintained the position until 1989.
1987 – First prize, Kammermusikwettbewerb Martigny, Several concerts at Schweizer Rundfunk.
1989 – Rundfunkorchester RAI, Rome, Italy – Soloist concerts until 1990.
1990 – Wiener Symphoniker, Austria – he won the competition as a bassoon soloist and is maintaining the position nowadays.

– Soloist at the Vienna Symphony Orchestra since 1990.
– Member of the Chamber Orchestra Wiener Concert-Verein.
– Member, Founder and e Vice president of the Chamber Orchestra Concertino Wien.
– Member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
– Founder and artistic director of the European Wind Soloists.
