Gustavo Núñez

Gustavo Núñez (born in Montevideo, 15th February 1965) is an Uruguayan bassoonist who developed in the Musikhochschule of Hannover (Prof. Klaus Thunemann) and at the Royal College of Music (Kerry Camden). From 1995, he has been the first bassoon at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, with Ronald Karten.

He was previously a member of the Simón Bolívar Symphonic Orchestra (1979-1981), of the Staatstheater Darmstadt Orchestra (1988-1989) and of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra (1989-1995).

He is currently a professor at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Núñez gives masterclasses and has appeared as a soloist in the United States, Canada, several countries in South America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Australia, South Korea and Japan. He is considered one of the greatest bassoonists in his generation.
